Midwest Mustang Challenge Highlights

Training horses requires first an understanding of equine behavior and the experience and knowledge to create a training program based on this understanding that works for every horse. Suzanne has done this and wants to show you how it works even with a wild horse. The following video is meant to provide you with an idea of how Suzanne’s program works on any horse and how we can help you with your horsemanship goals in a similar way.

Background: This horse who as since become known as ‘Jazz’ was completely wild captured from the Nevada plains and held in a BLM (Bureau of Land Management) holding facility in Ewing IL prior to our taking possession of him before the challenge. He had ONLY 90 days of training which included a gentling process, prior to competing at the Midwest Mustang Challenge in Madison Wisconsin in April of 2008. His training was conducted from mid January to mid April in Central PA and the event in Madison was Jazz’s only and first event he had been exposed to prior to competing.

The competition was comprised of 3 portions: in hand obstacle course, riding obstacle course and freestyle performance to music – all three are highlighted here….enjoy and thank you for watching!

Jazz is a 2005 American Mustang from Nevada and was wild just 90 days prior to this competition. Suzanne picked him up at a BLM holding facility in Ewing IL and gentled and trained him for a competition designed to showcase this remarkable breed and facilitate their successful adoption to new homes. Though once wild, Jazz now “wows” many crowds at various venues across the country and is happy to do so as is evident by the relationship he shares with Suzanne, his new adoptor.
