CONGRATULATIONS to Rick Trusty, of Pennsylvania for winning the Equine Masters Championship, National at the Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo in Indianapolis, IN. Rick won the Eastern Regional EMC in March with his beautiful blue roan stallion “Chief” and joined a field of competitors to round out the season at the EMC National in Indiana. The pair had a nearly flawless go in the preliminaries and finished the finals with a beautiful run. Michelle Blasi, from Kentucky won the women’s division and went head to head with Rick for the overall title. Though it was a close smackdown, Rick took the championship when he and Chief executed a near perfect ‘test’ compiled by the judges. Congratulations to all the competitors for a job well done. What a great field of equestrians to round out the season for the Equine Masters Championship. Check back for a video of Rick’s run.

Lauren Sarnowski and Rhiannon Schneider, and Suzanne’s daughter Brooke Myers all competed with mustangs at the most recent Extreme Mustang Makeover Eastern Stampede held at the Miller Collesium in Murfreesborough, TN on October 23-25. Roughly 100 trainers participated in the process of gentling and then training a wild mustang for competition in both in-hand and riding courses. Nearly a year ago, Suzanne competed in the MidWest Mustang challenge with a beautiful grulla gelding she named Jazz and won against 50 other trainers from across the country. This time her daughter Brooke and two assistant trainers accepted the challenge and quickly took the lead in the preliminary round. In the Idols division Lauren was first in the in-hand competition on her 4 yo sorrel mustang Durango and Rhiannon was third on Kerwin, out of approximately 30 trainers. In the riding course Rhiannon was first and Lauren was fifth putting them 1st and 2nd overall in the preliminaries (seperated by only a quarter point) and leading the pack by 10 points. Brooke was 3rd in youth division preliminary round (among 28 trainers) with her yearling mustang Jacuzzi. All three of NLH’s best moved to the top 10 freestyle division where Lauren placed 10th, and Rhiannon 6th in the Idols coompetition, and Brooke took Reserve Grand Champion in the youth division. A job well done ladies!

Chase and his wife Carrie are good friends of ours whom we met through our involvement with the mustang challenges. Though we did not compete in this year’s event at Madison WI, we were there as invited clinicians giving clinics throughout the 3-day event. And, we were privileged to witness a simply spectacular run by Chase and his mustang Pat Summit during the finals event on Sunday, April 19th. Way to go Chase!
